Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Here’s an abbreviated account of our holidays to Wicklow.
Get into car. Sun shines
Baby D – Waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Stop car. Lashes rain
Baby D – Waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Get out of car. Run to shops through puddles.
Baby D – Waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Walk around shops. Sun shines.
Baby D – Waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Go for walk in nice scenic area. Lashes rain.

Get into car. Sun shines

Repeat for 2 days.
(I should point out that Baby D was coming down with a cold, which explained his bad mood. Didn’t explain the weather though.)

Hostels

Surfpoint Resort, Margaret River: Fantastic place, big room, good living area, near beach, friendly atmosphere, second place Best Hostel award
Baywatch Manor, Augusta: Fantastic, room with cupboards and things, homely living area, great clean well stocked kitchen, like a B and B. Best hostel award!
YHA Fremantle: Ok, funny atmosphere, run down but ok room and kictchen,
Dolphin Retreat,Bunbury: Awful, bad atmosphere,unclean,
YHA Perth: Another goood,new hostel,kitchen takes a lot of walking arounjdbut TV in bedroom and nice places to sit and chill, leather armchairs in TV room bonus!
YHA Adelaide: Good, new hostel, guitar to borrow, a reading room, big kitchen and laptop jukebox, about 50 beds in our room,
The Nunnery, Melbourne: Old convent,great room with TV, lovely communal areas with religious decor. Worse kitchen yet, too small and no utensils
Amaroo Park, Phillip Island: upgraded to a big cabin, luxury again
Riveria Backpackers, Lakes Entrance: Least favourite hostel. Musty, needs a revamp. Nice owners.
Eden Tourist Park: Not in a hostel but in a holiday park in a deluxe cabin, sound of the waves in the distance. Lovely.
Bateman's Bay Caravan Park: Our very own caravan! and nice living room which didn't get closed early. Thank God no pool
Keira View, Wollongong: University accom, big room, nice courtyard, very quiet
Railway Square Sydney: Good hostel, converted rail carriages as rooms, lots of fresh tea towels. Pool: Best not mentioned.
YHA Newcastle: The best Hostel in the World ever. Old Gentleman's club, leather couches, big kitchen and rooms, lovely!
Cape Byron,Byron Bay: Functional YHA, small kitchen, good outdoor area, free bikes and boogie boards. Pool: Lost count
Sunset Strip, Coolangatta: Old People's home, massive kitchen. Pool: MB 2 LS 1/2
Manta Lodge, Stradbroke Island: Friendly, relaxing, quiet common areas, free pool. Pool MB 1000 LS 1 Table Tennis: LS 2 MB 1. (LS Official 2008 Queensland Champion)
Bunk Backpackers Brisbane, Big rooms, party bar, hot kitchen. Air Hockey: MB 1 LS 0
Halse Lodge Noosa-old colonial house, great siting room and lovely, homely bedroom, small kitchen but overall like staying in somone's house. Table tennis: LS 2 MB 1 Pool MB 1 LS0
Fraser Roving Backpackers, Hervey Bay-very spacious, very quiet, even in Bar, brutal soft beds. Table tennis: LS 2 MB 1. Pool MB3 LS 0
YHA Airlie Beach-like Cairns, Subway opposite with free cookies
YHA Magnetic Island-A frame v hot cabin, friendly, like camping except with nice bar
Licuala Lodge, Mission Beach- paradise, amazing gardens and brekkie, like staying with family
YHA Cairns- functional, prison cell room
